Kamal and I met on our first day of orientation at UVic more than 20 years ago. We never would have imagined then that we would both eventually become farmers in the Okanagan, but through very different paths, that is exactly where we ended up.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCherries are especially sentimental for me. My grandma canned them whole, and whenever I visited the Okanagan we ate them with vanilla ice cream—even in the depths of winter. Her cherries inspired me to start preserving local food when I still lived in Vancouver.
