The Gill family's farming roots are in Punjab, India. The grandparents came to Canada in 1980, worked in Fraser Valley blueberry farms, and moved to Oliver in 1986.
The family established the Cawston organic fruit farm in 2008, and four generations now live and work on it. They grow organic apples, cherries and peaches without synthetic pesticides, using drip irrigation throughout. Certification is through PACS.
Apples are what come through the shop, Fuji among them, through autumn and winter storage. The operation also washes, sorts, packs and distributes organic fruit for other growers.
