Bob McCoubrey bought this 7.75 acre orchard with his wife Sharon in 1974, in the Winfield area of what is now Lake Country, and moved it to organic production in 1989.
Molly and Matt Thurston met studying agronomy at the University of Guelph. They leased and managed the orchard from 2007 while apprenticing under Bob, and bought the property in 2011.
They grow certified organic pears alongside roughly thirty to thirty-five heritage apple varieties, plus peaches, apricots and plums. Certification is through the North Okanagan Organic Association.
Pears are what the orchard is best known for here, D'Anjou and Bosc in particular, arriving through autumn. Apples follow, Spartan and EverCrisp among the varieties that have come through the shop.
