About Frog Friendly Coffee

Frog Friendly Coffee grew out of Karla Ferster's family trips to the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, where relatives brought coffee home from forest harvests and roasted it over open fires.

Karla grew up in Oaxaca and built the company with her cousin Pedro around 2006. The beans are harvested by family groups from cloud forest, where the coffee grows under existing tree cover rather than on cleared plantation.

Everything is small-batch roasted to order in Enderby. Whole bean coffee comes through the shop in medium, dark and espresso roasts.

Why we work with them

Coffee is the one thing we carry that cannot be grown here, so if we are going to stock it we want to know exactly whose hands it passed through.

Karla's family harvest it from cloud forest in Oaxaca and it is roasted in small batches here in the Shuswap. Forest-grown rather than cleared plantation, and roasted to order, which is why it tastes the way it does.
