Nature's First is a packing house rather than a single farm. The label and its facility, Cawston Cold Storage, began in 1993 and now bring together twenty-eight grower-members across the Similkameen Valley.
The facility holds up to 8,400 bins of apples, with rooms given over to organic fruit, which is how Similkameen orchards reach customers well outside their own season.
Certified organic apples are what come through the shop under this label: Ambrosia, Gala, Pink Lady and Sweet Orin. The label is closely associated with the Ambrosia, a chance seedling found in a Similkameen orchard in the early 1990s.
