Pharron Nelson's parents, Fred and Phyllis Nelson, farmed this Cawston land organically before formal organic standards existed.
Pharron and his partner Josee-Anne Rouleau now run it as a certified organic operation, focused on healthy soil and avoiding unnecessary chemicals. Certification is through PACS. They grow organic apples in many varieties, alongside Asian pears, peaches, nectarines and plums, and sell subscription and gift boxes direct.
Asian pears are what have come through the shop, which are crisp and closer to an apple in texture than a European pear.
