The Peterson family's orchard roots in Salmon Arm go back to 1911, when Ed and Ivor Peterson arrived from Saskatchewan and planted the first trees. The family formalised Peterson Bros Co-Op in 1948.
Allan and Laura Peterson launched A & L Peterson Orchards in 2007, and later added Laura's Pies and fresh-pressed apple juice. They grow apples in dozens of varieties alongside pears, apricots, cherries, plums and prunes.
Yellow plums are what have come through the shop, in a short late-summer window. The fruit is listed as no spray rather than certified organic.
