About Shuswap Organics

Shuswap Organics is a first generation, family owned, certified organic vegetable farm in Grindrod. The fields sit beside the Shuswap River in the North Okanagan. This is the home farm behind Nature Delivered.

The farm specializes in winter storage crops. Carrots, beets, and potatoes come out of these fields and hold their quality deep into the cold months, which is how local food stays on the table long after the markets close.

Through the growing season the farm also produces greens, herbs, seedlings, and a range of mixed vegetables. Local vegetables run from May through February. The farm makes organic preserves too, including the tomato chutney you will find in the shop.

Emily Jubenvill grew up near Vancouver and studied environmental science at university, where she first got interested in organic farming. Her love of preserving food started with her grandmother's canned cherries. A long path through dozens of community gardens and a couple of continents brought her to Grindrod.

Owen Madden practiced as a criminal prosecutor in Dublin before retraining in global climate change law. He worked in environmental law and public advocacy in Vancouver. Marrying a farmer moved him to the Shuswap, where he found a love for growing organic food. Emily and Owen farm here with their daughter.

Why we work with them

This is where Nature Delivered started. The farm grows a large share of what goes into the boxes, and it sets the standard we look for everywhere else. Certified organic, close to home, and honest about what a season can and cannot produce.

It also shows what the wider network is for. One farm cannot feed a region year round, so Shuswap Organics grows what it grows well and we carry other family farms alongside it.

A note from Emily

People often ask why we started Nature Delivered. The simple answer is that we wanted buying local food to be easier.

As farmers, we know how much care goes into growing every carrot, lettuce, tomato, and berry. We also know how difficult it can be for busy families to find and access local food, especially outside of farmers' market hours. Nature Delivered was created to bridge that gap by connecting our community with the incredible growers around us.

Thank you for supporting our farm and the many other family farms we work with. Every order helps keep local agriculture thriving, and we're truly grateful you've chosen to be part of that story.
