About Song Hollow Farm

Song Hollow Farm is a small certified organic farm on Old Sicamous Road in Grindrod, growing fruit, vegetables, grain and eggs.

The farm is known locally for its garlic. It took first place in the Most Varieties class at the Grindrod Garlic Festival, showing fourteen different varieties.

The range here is unusually wide. Roots and brassicas run through the year, rutabaga, celeriac, kohlrabi, salad turnips, beets and daikon among them. Summer brings tomatoes, beans, snap peas, patty pan and pickling cucumbers, then watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew, which few farms this far north attempt.

The grain side shows up as corn flour and Dakota Black popcorn, and there are free-range duck eggs alongside the vegetables. Autumn is squash: marmalade kabocha, winter blush and a hot chocolate pumpkin.

Why we work with them

Rob grows a wider range on a small acreage than almost anyone we work with, and does it well. Fourteen garlic varieties at the Grindrod Garlic Festival tells you something about how closely this farm pays attention.

Being a few minutes down the road means we know how the crops are grown and how recently they came out of the ground. We take what we know is at its best and what our customers actually ask for, and leave the rest.
