Jordan Marr grew mixed organic vegetables in the Okanagan for about a decade before narrowing his focus to heirloom open-pollinated milling corn and dry beans, after discovering the flavour of Painted Mountain corn.
He farmed for years at Helen's Acres Community Farm in Kelowna, and now grows at Fresh Valley Farms near Armstrong, another of the farms in this network. About an acre of dry beans plus several heirloom corn varieties, supplying restaurants and retailers across British Columbia.
This is pantry food rather than fresh produce, so it keeps. Organic popcorn is the regular, alongside dry beans including Purgatory white beans and King of the Early baking beans.
