Zelaney Farms is a family-run, 20-acre vegetable farm on Petworth Road in the Coldstream Valley. Rachelle and Brian Zelaney have farmed this land since 1987.
What they grow
The farm grows vegetables from spring through fall:
- Super sweet carrots
- Sieglinde potatoes
- Spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage
- Pickling cucumbers
- Walla Walla onions
- Sweet corn
- Round and cylinder red beets
- Radishes and dill
In spring they also sell tomato plants and sweet basil plants. Tomato plants open for pre-order in their online shop early in the season.
How they farm
Zelaney Farms is a conventional farm, not certified organic. The family works to keep chemical use as low as they can, and to avoid it where possible. The farm also follows a strict food safety plan to keep its produce clean and safe.
Where to find them
The farm gate store on Petworth Road is open to the public most weeks. You can also find Zelaney Farms at the Vernon Farmers' Market in spring, summer, and fall, and at the Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market all year.
Their vegetables are on the shelves at Butcher Boys in Vernon, the BC Tree Fruits Market in Kelowna, Gambell Farms in Lake Country, and DeMille's Farm Market in Salmon Arm. They also sell online, with pickup at the farm gate or at either market.
