Jed Wiebe and Louise Lecouffe started by harvesting wild elderberries for syrup and shrub tonics. Finding no local fresh-pressed products on the market, they brought in their first cuttings from Missouri in 2016 and launched commercially in 2018.
They farm about 3.2 acres, certified organic through the North Okanagan Organic Association, and hold one of the largest elderberry variety collections around, which they also sell as cuttings. Jed built a custom destemming machine, and the juice is pressed on an old cider press.
The certified organic elderberry syrup is what the shop carries, and it keeps, so it is worth having in the cupboard before the cold months rather than during them.
