Certified Organic Arugula — 1 Bunch

Peppery, fresh and full of flavour, arugula is the green to reach for when lettuce feels a little too boring. Its distinctive flavour has a gentle mustardy bite, similar to radish, that can range from mild in younger leaves to wonderfully peppery as the leaves mature.

This Certified Organic arugula comes as a whole bunch, giving you plenty for salads, sandwiches and cooking.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Certified Organic

  • Fresh, peppery flavour

  • Delicious raw or lightly cooked

  • An easy way to add flavour to simple meals

  • Tender leaves with a pleasantly spicy bite

Great For

Salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, pizza, pasta, grain bowls, eggs and pesto.

Arugula is especially good with lemon, Parmesan, olive oil and a pinch of salt. Toss those together and you've got a simple salad that takes about two minutes to make.

Storage

Store arugula refrigerated and unwashed until you're ready to use it. Wrap the bunch loosely in a slightly damp paper towel and place it in a bag or container in your crisper drawer.

If the leaves are already damp, let them dry before storing—excess moisture will make tender greens deteriorate more quickly.

Build Your Basket

Add tomatoes, Parmesan and lemon for a simple salad, or grab pizza ingredients and scatter fresh arugula over the top after the pizza comes out of the oven.

Good to Know

Arugula's peppery flavour comes from naturally occurring compounds called glucosinolates, which are also found in other members of the brassica family—including broccoli, cabbage, mustard and radishes.

And arugula isn't just a salad green. Heat quickly mellows its peppery bite. Toss a handful into hot pasta just before serving, wilt it into eggs, or stir it into soup at the very end of cooking.

How to Stretch This

If your bunch starts to wilt, don't toss it. Older arugula is perfect for pesto—blend it with garlic, olive oil, nuts or seeds, Parmesan and a squeeze of lemon.

You can also chop wilted leaves into pasta, soup, scrambled eggs or a frittata, where their texture won't matter but that peppery flavour still will.
