Certified Organic Red Beets — 2 lb
Deep red, earthy and naturally sweet, these Certified Organic red beets are grown on our farm in Grindrod, BC. They have a firm texture and rich flavour that becomes wonderfully sweet when roasted.
These are medium to large-sized beets, making them easy to peel, chop, grate or roast. A 2 lb portion gives you enough to use across several meals—or roast the whole batch at once and keep cooked beets in the fridge for easy meals throughout the week.

Great For
Roasting, soups, borscht, salads, grain bowls, pickling, slaws and sheet-pan dinners.
One of the easiest ways to cook them is to roast the beets whole until tender, then slip the skins off once they're cool enough to handle. Slice and keep them in the fridge to add to meals throughout the week.
Storage
Beets are fantastic keepers. Store them refrigerated in a bag or container in your crisper drawer, where they'll keep much longer than many other fresh vegetables.
If your beets ever come with their tops attached, remove the greens before storing—the leaves pull moisture from the roots and shorten their storage life.
Build Your Basket
Pair with carrots and potatoes for roasted root vegetables, or add apples, goat cheese and greens for a sweet-and-earthy fall salad.
Good to Know
That incredible red-purple colour comes from pigments called betalains. They're different from the anthocyanin pigments responsible for the purple colour in foods like red cabbage and blueberries.
And yes, beets can sometimes turn your urine or stool pink or red after you eat them. It's called beeturia, and the dramatic colour can be surprising if you're not expecting it!
How to Stretch This
Roast the entire 2 lb portion while you're already running the oven. Eat some warm with dinner, then refrigerate the rest.
Over the next few days, the cooked beets can become salad, a grain-bowl topping, a quick side with goat cheese, or even hummus blended with chickpeas, tahini and lemon.
And don't throw away little scraps or slightly soft beets—they're perfect for soup, borscht or a batch of quick pickles.

Beets are a regular purchase for me.
I love this service and have been enjoying it’s benefits for over a year now. The main attractors for me are convenience, selection of organics, and the quality and nutritional value of their delicious foods.
They offer mostly Locally farmed goodness from real people and their families all grown with love and care. Thry have both Organic and conventional foods with a selection of local grocery such as honey, chocolate goodies, organic meats and locally crafted teas. All brought right to your door or if you prefer they offer flexible pick up options.
Their variety of farm foods changes with the seasons and availability from other non-local sources. I found the online ordering experience to be simple and straightforward. There are many payment options though e-transfer is preferred so as to keep more of their hard earned money reinvested in the farm. It has become one of my consistently favourite go-to groces.
