Certified Organic Napa Cabbage — Song Hollow Farm

Crisp, juicy and wonderfully tender, this Certified Organic Napa cabbage is grown by Song Hollow Farm in Grindrod, BC.

Napa cabbage has a mild, slightly sweet flavour with tender pale-green leaves and crunchy white ribs. It's softer and more delicate than traditional green cabbage, making it just as good raw in a crunchy slaw as it is quickly cooked into a stir-fry or soup.

Great For

Slaws, salads, stir-fries, noodle bowls, dumplings, soups, fried rice, wraps and, of course, homemade kimchi.

For a quick side, roughly chop it and stir-fry with garlic, ginger and a splash of soy sauce until the leaves soften but the stems still have some crunch.

Storage

Store Napa cabbage refrigerated in the crisper drawer, ideally in a loose bag or container to help prevent it from drying out.

If you only use part of the head, cover the cut side and return the rest to the fridge.

Build Your Basket

Add carrots, green onions and garlic for an easy stir-fry or slaw, or pair with mushrooms and noodles for a quick weeknight dinner.

Good to Know

Napa cabbage is a type of Chinese cabbage, and both the leafy tops and thick white ribs are delicious.

When cooking, chop the whole thing rather than tossing those crunchy stems. The ribs take a little longer to soften, so add them to the pan first and the leafy portions a few minutes later.

How to Stretch This

One head can easily work its way through several meals. Use the tender inner leaves for salads, slaws and wraps, then chop the sturdier outer leaves and ribs into stir-fries, soups or fried rice.

And if you have more than you can use fresh, turn it into kimchi for a completely different way to enjoy your cabbage.
