Great For
Roasted potatoes and root vegetables, mushrooms, chicken, beef, soups, stews, stuffing, pasta, sauces, marinades and homemade bread.
For an easy side, toss mushrooms or potatoes with olive oil, garlic, fresh thyme and salt before roasting.
Storage
Keep fresh thyme refrigerated. For longer keeping, loosely wrap the sprigs in a slightly damp paper towel and store them in a bag or container in the fridge.
Build Your Basket
Add mushrooms and garlic for an easy sauté, or grab potatoes, carrots and onions for a simple tray of thyme-roasted vegetables.
Good to Know
Thyme is one of those herbs that can go into the pot early in the cooking process. Its sturdy leaves release their flavour slowly and stand up well to simmering, braising and roasting.
For soups and stews, you don't even have to remove all those tiny leaves. Add a few whole sprigs, let them flavour the dish as it cooks, then pull out the woody stems before serving.
How to Stretch This
If you won't use the whole package while it's fresh, thyme is very easy to preserve. Let extra sprigs air-dry, then strip the dried leaves from the stems and store them in a jar.
You can also freeze the leaves or whole sprigs for future soups, stews and roasted dishes.
