Certified Organic Sweet Green Peppers — Song Hollow Farm

Sweet, crisp and wonderfully versatile, these Certified Organic green peppers are grown by Song Hollow Farm in Grindrod, BC.

Unlike hot peppers, these green peppers have a mild, sweet flavour with no spicy heat. They're delicious sliced raw for snacking, but they're equally good sautéed, roasted, stuffed or added to just about anything you're cooking for dinner.

Why You'll Love Them

  • Certified Organic

  • Grown locally in Grindrod, BC

  • Sweet, mild flavour without the heat

  • Crisp and juicy when fresh

  • Delicious raw or cooked

  • Easy to work into everyday meals

Great For

Fresh snacking, salads, stir-fries, fajitas, pizza, omelettes, stuffed peppers, soups, stews and roasted vegetables.

For an easy dinner, slice your peppers with onions and sauté until tender and slightly caramelized. Add them to tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches or whatever else you're making.

Storage

Store peppers unwashed in your refrigerator's crisper drawer, ideally in a loose bag or container to help prevent moisture loss.

Wash just before using.

Build Your Basket

Pair with onions, garlic and tomatoes for a base that works in countless meals, from pasta sauce to chili.

They're also great with mushrooms, zucchini and potatoes for an easy vegetable hash or sheet-pan dinner.

Good to Know

Did you know that most green peppers are simply peppers harvested before they've fully ripened?

Many green pepper varieties will eventually turn red, yellow or orange if left on the plant long enough. As they ripen, their flavour often becomes sweeter and fruitier.

Green peppers have their own appeal, though—a fresh, slightly grassy flavour that works particularly well in savoury cooking.

How to Stretch This

If you've got more peppers than you can use fresh, chop and freeze them raw. There's no need to blanch them first.

Frozen peppers lose some of their crunch when thawed, but they're perfect for soups, stews, stir-fries, chili and cooked sauces.

You can also slice and roast several peppers at once, then refrigerate the leftovers for sandwiches, pasta or pizza later in the week.
