These are eggs from chickens living their best chicken lives!

Raised by our friends at Fresh Valley Farms in Spallumcheen, just outside Armstrong, BC, these Certified Organic hens are raised on pasture and moved frequently onto fresh ground. Their mobile housing gives them access to fresh greens while providing shelter and protection from predators. Out on pasture, the chickens get to do what chickens naturally want to do: forage for insects, seeds and plants, scratch, dust bathe, run around and enjoy the fresh air.

It's good for the chickens, and it's part of a bigger regenerative farming system designed to care for the land, too. Moving the birds regularly spreads their impact across the pasture, returns nutrients to the soil and gives grazed areas time to recover.

A Little Different — In a Good Way

These eggs are ungraded, meaning they're washed and packed right on the farm rather than being sent away to a grading station before coming to you.

That also means you won't necessarily open the carton to twelve perfectly matched eggs. Sizes and shell colours vary.

We think that's part of their charm.

What you can count on is a beautiful deep yellow yolk and a delicious egg inside.

Great For

These are the eggs you want to actually taste: fried or poached on toast, soft-boiled over a grain bowl, scrambled for breakfast or made into a simple egg salad. They're also wonderful for everyday baking and cooking.

Good to Know

Fresh Valley Farms has been Certified Organic since 2020, although the land has been managed without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides for decades. Feed brought onto the farm is Certified Organic and locally grown, and their organic certification includes standards for animal care, pasture access and feed sourcing.

Why Pasture Raised?

Pasture isn't simply somewhere these chickens are allowed to visit. It's part of how Fresh Valley Farms raises them.

They are not raised in a barn with a door to access the outdoors, these chickens live on pasture in a Rova Barn, which means they are moved regularly onto fresh ground, where they can forage, scratch and explore. The rotation helps prevent overuse of the pasture while giving vegetation time to recover, cycling nutrients back into the soil and supporting a healthier farm ecosystem.

In other words: chickens getting to be chickens, while playing their own small part in taking care of the land.
